Beware of False Advertisement of Competing Boston Boiler Installers

I recently was contacted by an online marketing company trying to sell me on a
Google Adwords campaign, one that I could easily do myself. During the conversation where he had me login on the website “join.me”, he googled several keyword phrases, one of the being “boston boiler installations”. Our website happened to be at the top of the organic listings, next to one of our competitors. I happened to quickly read the lead-in sentence after this particular competitor’s listing, and found it very amusing what they (or he) was advertising. It was like they were the “McDonald’s” of boiler installation companies (hundreds served) but without one complaint, not even a “frivilous” one. I find this funny because I know of at least one home where this statement isn’t true. And it was in Everett. We got a call from a homeowner who had acquired their services, and had recently had a sales representative from the boiler manufacturer stating that the installation was incorrect and was the reason there was heating issues. It was a Navien Combination Boiler/ Water Heater, natural gas-fired. Not only was the boiler the smallest you can buy (and definately undersized for the home) and the piping for the heating primary loop was 3/4″ and should have been 1″ (which we corrected), but the system itself was piped wrong and not according to manufacturer’s specifications. So it was causing the Navien CH-180 (We ended up changing it out to a CH-210 exchanged by the Manufacturer’s Representative) to run all the time without heating properly. He technically shouldn’t even being installing the gas line and intake air/ exhaust piping for these products since he is not licensed or insured to do so. Thus, there was never a gas and plumbing permit obtained. So what took him days to complete incorrectly, took us hours and this homeowner’s heat has never been better. There were MANY incorrect features about this installation and definately did not read the directions. This same company uses a billboard to lure people into their trap….BEWARE!!!

We service Buderus boilers and install Unico systems. This one was a hydro air set-up, with the hot water being made by a Buderus GB-142. We sealed up the plenums not done by the original contractor, and added additional heating supply runs to a couple rooms that were consistently chilly. The Buderus boiler was taken apart, and its heat exchanger and condensate trap thoroughly cleaned. We just finished installing one of these in a Condo Building in Quincy where there were 30 Baxi Luna units installed. The Rinnai E110CN is SO much better in quality! If you are in search of a TOP- quality Combi unit, look no further. We have installed almost all brands available on the market today, and this is the best. The Japanese, Dutch, and Americans have collaborated together to create an awesome Combination Boiler/ Tankless Water Heater. They have thought of ALMOST everything. My only complaint is that they don’t come with a standardized condensate drain kit, but we made it happen because Quarry Hills Plumbing & HVAC, Inc. is the most creative mechanical corporation available. Another thing I don’t like is their “Rinnai” label on the jacket- individualized silver puffy letters that spell out the name. All the stickers fell off with ease, one by one, by the end of the installation. You’d think they’d more proud and have “Rinnai” etched into the plastic jacket, but no. Check out our pics to follow this week—look what we had to deal with for size; a small closet with a huge hydro-air unit parked next to the boiler….14.5 inches of door clearance space to get the existing unit OUT and the new Rinnai in….and you will see why we are the best in gas boiler and furnace installations, among other highly valuable skills we are so adept at providing. As well as plumbing, heating, and air conditioning repairs, we love to help customers through the oftentimes intimidating process of switching from heating oil to clean burning, natural gas. We do at least one oil to gas conversion a week. We strongly sell and are loyal to the sales reps, wholesalers, and the manufacturer of Lochinvar Knight boilers, but we will install the Burnham boilers, like the Alpine and Freedom, to accommodate those who choose to purchase these products through National Grid’s discounted boiler and furnace program. We have installed many American Standard Freedom 95 Furnaces, and is a product we sell to those who aren’t buying through their gas provider. You may also wonder what you should look for in a contractor who is able to take on this kind of work. The most important thing is that the company has a licensed, insured Master Plumber or Gasfitter in the mix. They will be responsible for the water (for a boiler), gas (for furnaces and boilers), and the exhaust venting/ intake air (for both). All new furnace and boiler installations MUST be inspected by the Plumbing and Gas Inspector of the town/ city in which the work was done. This is the law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but it also pays to have a third party in to look at what was done. This way, both owner and contractor are covered! If you are considering doing business with an unlicensed, uninsured individual, buyer beware! Many towns and cities are also requiring that a mechanical permit be filled out and purchased by a licensed Sheet Metal Contractor, especially with furnaces.
